Alexmi Polanco, LMHC-D
An Afro-Dominican Licensed Mental Health Counselor, psychospiritual mentor, mother of two, and the founder of Poder Healing. My work grew out of a lifelong curiosity about what it means to be human and how we find our way back to ourselves after life's experiences have asked us to disconnect.
Outside of the healing space, you'll often find me spending time with my children, dancing, exploring nature, traveling, or sharing meaningful conversations over good food with the people I love. These moments remind me that healing isn't something reserved for the therapy room. It's woven into the way we move through our everyday lives. As both a therapist and a human being, I've experienced seasons of grief, transition, uncertainty, and beginning again. Those experiences continue to shape the way I show up with compassion, honesty, and deep respect for each person's story.
I founded Poder Healing to create the kind of space I believe more people deserve: one that honors the connection between our mental health, our bodies, our culture, our spirituality, our relationships, and the communities that shaped us. Whether you’re at Poder for therapy, soul healing, or community events, I hope you'll leave feeling more connected to yourself, more trusting of your inner wisdom, and more empowered to create a life that feels deeply aligned with who you are.
We explore what happened, what you've carried, and what is possible from here.

Steve is a mental health counseling intern who provides services in English and understands Spanish. He holds a master’s degree in School Counseling and is currently completing an Advanced Certificate in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Building upon clients’ strengths and wisdom for growth, Steve believes healing begins through a trusting, collaborative relationship. He creates a space where clients can better understand themselves and draw upon the resilience they already possess.
He works with clients facing family and relationship challenges, life transitions, burnout, acculturation, and stress that can affect both emotional and physical well-being. Steve recognizes that the systems around us sometimes support our growth and other times, create barriers.
Experiences as an educator and community organizer deepened Steve’s commitment to supporting people through change and uncertainty. Years in Latin America shaped his appreciation of culture and how it shapes people's lives. He meets clients where they are, remaining curious about what he does not yet understand, and works alongside them as an ally in their growth and well-being.
